1969 HIPPY Program founded to prepare immigrant children in Israel for educational success. It was developed in Israel, at the National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) Research Institute for Innovation in Education at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

1984 The first HIPPY programs were established in the United States.

1988 HIPPY is brought to Dallas Independent School District by the NCJW, Dallas Chapter, as a pilot project serving 14 migrant families in West Dallas.

1998 Texas HIPPY was established as an organization in 1998, as a sub-grant of HIPPY USA, our national headquarters.

​

2000 The University of North Texas adopts the program for implementation statewide using federal funds from AmeriCorps.

​

2001 HIPPY changes its name from Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youngsters to Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters. The change more accurately portrays the program's emphasis to teach parents of preschool youngsters the skills they need to serve as their child's first teacher.

2008 HIPPY Texas Celebrates 20th year Anniversary. To date, more than 19,000 Texas children have participated in HIPPY with their parents.

2023 Texas HIPPY becomes an independent nonprofit organization
